Let’s make this Monday a little merrier, shall we? Last weekend at Tonga Hut‘s Tiki Wonderland event, I picked up these jolly postcards by Eric October — “Have Yourself a Moai Little Christmas,” get it? I’d like to spread a little holiday cheer by sending some well wishes on one of these cards to the first 15 people to comment on this post. (I’ll e-mail you for a mailing address.) UPDATE: All the cards have been spoken for — mahalo for playing, everyone!
If you have a suggestion for some festive music, I’d love to hear! (My favorites of the moment include “Skating” by the Vince Guaraldi Trio from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” The Beatles-infused “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” from The Ventures’ Christmas Album, and Ixtahuele’s exotica version of “White Christmas.”)
Also, if you happen to be in the Los Angeles area, you can see more art by Eric October at The Enchanted World of Rankin/Bass group tribute art show at Creature Features in Burbank. (A bunch of familiar tiki artists like Derek Yaniger and BigToe are participating too.) It’s on display at the store through January 4, 2015, and you can also see some photos of the art on the event’s Facebook page.

No kard. just petz.
Merry Christmas! One of my favorite songs is Grandma got run of over by a reindeer. Makes me giggle every time I hear the song.
Will it increase my chances if i bring you back something from Latitude 29!!??? Leaving for NOLA on Wed and heading straight to Lat 29!
Merry Tiki Kalikamaka to you !
(P.S. just came back from NOLA… at Lat 29 no swag, no tiki mugs …they are still getting it together….a little too hipster for me… walk around the corner and upstairs to Tiki Tolteca and have a nice brew and ambience….I couldn’t even get a book from Beach Bum Berry……) I will try them again in 6 months ‘maybe’ it will be a little better.
Hipsters don’t mind paying $$ for good cocktails. 😉
Tiki Tolteca is great. When I was there the two other customers were New Orleans bartenders (from different bars). But it’s hard to find and only open three days a week, hope they can withstand the icon Beachbum Berry.
I’m still stuck on Halloween music lol. But all the songs that they use at trader sams during Christmas are great. I know I have the list of the songs some where…
theses are sweet. Mouse world radio all the way
I love that post card. That would be a fantastic addition to our home tiki room and bar. As for songs my favorite holiday jingle is baby it’s cold outside.
i love the post card it. it looks sick.
Is mele kalikimaka too obvious?
If so, I always love that charlie brown christmas music
That card is too cute! I’m still waiting to get my Trader Sam’s card framed that you sent- I’ll have to send a pic when it gets hung up- we have the perfect place for it! Mele Kalikimaka to you! For Christmas music, I always love the Muppets/John Denver album and White Christmas (now sold as Merry Christmas) by Bing Crosby (the one where he’s wearing a Santa hat). The Leon Redbone album is also pretty fun. Have a nice holiday!
Love the art. Would love one? Thank you
Hiya Tiki B! Would love one of those cards, and thanks for the heads up on the shop in burbank..gotta check it! x
I have to agree with Skating from Vince Guaraldi, two songs that I have to listen to every year are “Christmas Song” by Dave Matthews Band, and “God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen” by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan.
How awesome! My Christmas Moai is guarding my front porch this year! So many Christmas songs to choose from… hmmmm, I think anything off the Ventures Christmas album or Arthur Lyman’s Mele Kalikimaka!
Mele Kalikimaka!
All the cards have been spoken for — mahalo for playing, everyone!
Love this postcard! Awesome!
Get postcard Tiki Chick.
Happy Holidays!
Donât know if Iâm too late for the Moai Card? But I love your choice of favorites with “Skating” by the Vince Guaraldi Trio from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,”
Cheers! Gayla Anderson
